Lauradate is built around conversation rather than matching - its own description is "communication-first", and much of the site is about meeting people from other countries and cultures. Registration is free and the interface is the calmest of the four. Two things an older dater should know before joining: it is open to anyone over 18 rather than being an age-specific community, and it runs the same platform as BestDates, also in this ranking.

BestDates is a free-to-join conversation platform with a clean sign-up, broad orientation options and 24/7 support. It names its operator, which not every site here does. The two things to weigh: conversation is metered rather than unlimited, and the site shares its platform, its policy pages and its terms - word for word - with Lauradate, which also appears in this ranking.
